Industrial Fireproofing
Passive fire protection that buys critical time when it matters most.
Structural steel loses load-bearing capacity quickly under fire. Passive fireproofing systems — intumescent and cementitious — slow that process, giving operators time to respond and emergency crews time to act. We apply manufacturer-approved systems on structural steel, vessels and process pipework, with full thickness verification and quality records. Fireproofing is normally specified together with industrial lining and coating so the primer, fire-rated build-up and topcoat all sit inside one inspection package.
Related services
For hydrocarbon-rated structural steel in splash zones or high-temperature service, fireproofing is sometimes paired with Thermal Metal Spray (TSA) as the underlying long-life corrosion layer. All access — from inspection platforms to full encapsulation — is provided by our in-house scaffolding and rope-access crews, and our HP/UHP water jetting teams handle the surface preparation before any system is built up.
Where we work & who we serve
Makhaya Corrosion Control delivers industrial fireproofing and the full range of industrial services across South Africa — including Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North West, Free State and the Northern Cape — as well as cross-border into Zambia through our in-country operation, Makhaya Zambia, based on the Copperbelt and serving North-Western, Lusaka, Central and Southern provinces.
Our crews support clients in mining and minerals processing, smelters and refineries, power generation, oil, gas and petrochemical, chemical and fertiliser plants, pulp and paper, water and wastewater, cement and lime, sugar and food processing, steel and heavy manufacturing, and renewable energy — from routine maintenance to full plant shutdowns.
