Who we are
About Makhaya
Makhaya Corrosion Control is a proudly South African specialist contractor in industrial corrosion protection, refurbishment and abatement.
We are an independent (Pty) Ltd company specialising in the full spectrum of industrial corrosion protection processes — including coating application, abrasive blasting, shot blasting, high-pressure water cleaning, as well as sheeting removal, replacement and repair. We also deliver turnkey projects where we manufacture, install and finalise the erection of steel structures on client premises, often processing raw client materials to exact specification — including pipeline fabrication, linings and Denso wrapping.
With more than 38 years of accumulated expertise, our teams operate across petrochemical, mining, energy, food & beverage and other heavy-industrial sectors — tackling everything from a single tank repaint to multi-discipline shutdown programmes. Makhaya is a Level 2 BBBEE contributor and takes immense pride in being involved in major turn-key projects overseen by some of the country's leading blue-chip companies.
Through our cross-border operation, Makhaya Zambia, we mirror the same systems, safety standards and quality control on projects across the Copperbelt and beyond.

How we operate
A management system that protects people, plant and the environment
Our integrated management system is built around the legislative, ISO 9001 and OHSAS / ISO 45001 frameworks, plus client-specific requirements layered in for every contract. Continual improvement is measured against the objectives, goals and targets set out in our rolling Five-Year Plan.
- ›Identification of potential risks and hazards, with control and monitoring systems in place.
- ›Ongoing development of methods and resources for corrosion preparation and coating application.
- ›Pollution and waste prevention — reducing emissions, discharges and unnecessary waste.
- ›Prevention of damage to equipment, materials and client property.
- ›Energy conservation built into how we plan and run jobs.
- ›Encouraging staff participation, consultation and ownership of the management system.
- ›Continuous investment in training, growth and certification of our people.
Sustainability
Doing the work today without compromising tomorrow
Makhaya Corrosion Control recognises its responsibility to conduct business in a way that protects and improves the environment for future generations. The long-term well-being of our communities, our employees and the strength of the wider economy depend on a genuine commitment to sustainability — not a marketing line.
We embed environmental sustainability as a core principle in our strategy and operational decisions. That means promoting energy and materials conservation, reducing waste, and integrating environmentally friendly policies into the way we work day-to-day.
- ›Reducing the environmental impact of our own activities on every site.
- ›Providing our employees with an environmentally conscious workplace.
- ›Maintaining processes and operations that ensure continuous, measurable improvement.
What we actually do, day-to-day
Our day-to-day work falls into a tight set of specialist scopes — industrial lining and coating, HP and UHP water jetting, passive industrial fireproofing, insulation, lagging and cladding, scaffolding and rope access, registered asbestos abatement, acid lining and bricking, Thermal Metal Spray (TSA), pipeline fabrication, linings and Denso wrapping, roof and side sheeting installation, industrial and commercial gutter cleaning, automated solar panel cleaning, and robotic sludge cleaning. Most contracts combine three or four of these under one project supervisor and one safety plan.
Let's protect your assets together
From a tank inspection to a full refinery shutdown, our team is ready to scope, plan and execute — in South Africa and across the border in Zambia.
